A Note from the Principal, Lakasha Lee August 27, 2026
Greetings Ison Springs Families!
We are approaching our first school holiday weekend. Please mark your calendar. Students are not expected to be present at school on Monday, September 7th
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes, kind messages, and expressions of support. I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday last week in beautiful Panama City, Panama. While it was a joy to spend time away, what brought me the greatest happiness was knowing that our Hawks continued to shine and succeed during my absence.
Our students, teachers, and staff demonstrated excellence every day, and I am incredibly grateful for the dedicated team we have here at Ison Springs Elementary. We are fortunate to have an outstanding staff and an amazing administrative cabinet committed to supporting every child. Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. It is truly a privilege to partner with you in their educational journey.
It is hard to believe we have already completed our third week of school! Our students are rising to the occasion and arriving ready to learn each day. Their enthusiasm, resilience, and commitment to success have been inspiring to see.
Research suggests that absenteeism during the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. In addition, missing more than 10 percent of the school year, which equals approximately two days per month, can negatively affect a student's academic performance. At Ison Springs Elementary School, we are committed to student attendance and success. Therefore, we are asking all families to commit to students being at school, on time, every day!
Our school day begins promptly at 7:40 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m. Students may begin arriving at 7:10 a.m. and should be in their classrooms by 7:40 a.m. Students arriving after 7:40 a.m. will be marked tardy. Parents must escort their child to the front desk for check-in if they arrive after 7:40 a.m.
Let us work together to establish a consistent and timely routine that sets our Hawks up for success each day.
If your child rides the school bus, please plan to arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pickup time. If a school bus is late, your child will not be marked tardy. Bus route and transportation information can be found on the Fulton County Schools Transportation website: Fulton County Schools Transportation.
A quick note before I close: I apologize for missing last week's family newsletter while I was away. Thank you for your grace and understanding. You can expect another update from me next week as I return to our regular communication schedule. Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and dedication to making Ison Springs Elementary a place where every Hawk can soar.
Annual Title I Meeting and Curriculum Night
Please mark your calendars and join us for our Annual Title I Parent Meeting and Curriculum Night on September 3, 2026. We are excited to welcome all families for an evening of learning, engagement, and partnership.
Curriculum Night Schedule:
- AU, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade: 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Grades 3-5: 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
During Curriculum Night, families will have the opportunity to meet their child's teacher, learn about grade-level expectations, review classroom routines and schedules, and explore ways to support student success throughout the school year.
The Annual Title I Parent Meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. During this meeting, families will learn about our Title I program, school goals, parent and family engagement opportunities, and the resources available to support student achievement.
All families are welcome and encouraged to attend. We look forward to partnering with you for a successful school year!
ESOL VIRTUAL Informational Night
Join our Virtual ESOL Information Session on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Microsoft Teams. Learn about the ESOL program, meet the ESOL teachers, explore available resources, and get answers to your questions. The Teams meeting link will be available on our website.

Visitors and Volunteers
Beginning September 8, families are invited to join their child for lunch. All visitors must sign in at the front office and receive a visitor badge upon arrival. Please note that visitors may eat lunch with their own child only. Students may not invite friends to join them unless written permission has been provided to school administration by the other student's parent or guardian.
We are also excited to welcome volunteers back to Ison Springs beginning September 8. If you are interested in volunteering, please be sure to complete the required volunteer registration process found on both the district and school websites before serving in the building.
Code of Conduct
The Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct is now ready for parents to review and sign in Infinite Campus. Please access through the Parent Portal by opening the documents tagged "NEEDS ATTENTION." Here is a (link) with instructions on how to complete the Acknowledgment of Receipt Form. All parents and students (over 10 years old) MUST sign this form to be found within their INFINITE CAMPUS PARENT/STUDENT PORTAL ACCOUNT. Please complete this task by August 31st.
Optional Device Protection Plan
Families, if your child has been issued a Fulton County Schools device this year, now is the time to consider enrolling in the Optional Device Protection (ODP) Plan. This affordable protection plan helps reduce the cost of accidental damage and can significantly lower out-of-pocket expenses associated with device repairs or replacement.
Without coverage, families may be responsible for repair costs ranging from $30 to $270, with replacement costs reaching up to $500, depending on the extent of the damage.
We encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity and enroll before the September 25 deadline. Protecting devices now helps ensure students stay connected to learning while avoiding unexpected expenses throughout the school year.

Emergency/Fire Lane
We need your continued help and cooperation with parking. The Fire Marshal’s Office has asked us to remind motorists that it is illegal to park in any Fire Lane on school district property at any time as it is a safety issue for emergency vehicle access. Violators who park illegally in a Fire Lane on school property are subject to a fine. Thank you for your understanding in keeping safety paramount for our school community.
Early Check-outs
Our dismissal begins at 2:20pm. Early checkouts must be completed before 1:45 pm. Please make every effort to avoid early checkouts, if possible. Our instructional day does not end until 2:15 pm. Teachers and support staff are working with our students from bell-to-bell to maximize teaching and learning.
Sandy Springs Education Force (SSEF) 5K/10K Race
Feel the Energy. Fuel the Future – Register Today for Sandy Springs Education Force’s Lightning 5K/10K on October 24, 2026. Proceeds support SSEF’s programs in all 10 public schools in Sandy Springs.

A Message from the Hawk Collective (PTO)
If you have not done so already, it's not too late to donate your gently used school uniforms! The PTO will be selling donated uniforms during Curriculum Night for just $1-$2 per item. All proceeds will directly benefit instructional materials and supplies for our amazing staff and students.

Recurring School Information
YMCA After School
We currently offer the Y After School program here at Ison Springs. Y Afterschool Programs offer academic assistance, outdoor activities and Imagination Stations focusing on social-emotional learning, career exploration, life skills, STEAM activities, arts & crafts, and more! Full-time and part-time options are available. YMCA Afterschool is a CAPS provider and financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Register today at ymcaatlanta.org. Hurry! Birthday Celebrations
Dropping off or sending in birthday treats is prohibited. Our Cafeteria may provide (at a cost to the parent) frozen treats. The price is $1.00 each for your child, and their class. All treats are big 9 allergen-free, unless indicated. There are a variety of flavors and a non-dairy option. The birthday treat meets USDA requirements for smart snacks in school. Be sure to sign-up and pay for this convenience in the cafeteria or order online: https://nutrition.fultonschools.org/CafeTakeout.
Also, you can make your child’s birthday extra special by putting their name in the lights on our marquee! For just $10, we will wish your child “Happy Birthday” on the marquee in front of the school.
Messages will run all day for friends and family to see. Purchases must be made 2 weeks prior to your child’s birthday.
Campus Parent/Parent Portal
All parents have access to the Parent Portal. This is where parents can view assignments/grades, progress reports, and report cards. If you have not created an account, please see Fulton County’s website (fultonschools.org). Please call the front office if you need additional information on how to set up an account.
Dismissal Changes
While we encourage our students to go home the same way each day, we understand that changes do happen. If you need to make a change in your child’s transportation home, please visit our website and complete the electronic dismissal change form. Please do not email transportation changes to your child’s teacher – teachers do not always have time to check emails! Please contact our front office at 470-254-4020 if you have any questions about dismissal changes.
Communication
Every effort is made to ensure open communication between home and school. Teachers and parents should communicate regularly regarding questions or concerns that arise during the school year. To stay connected, please read all correspondence that comes home with your child and/or is sent electronically. It is extremely important that your email is up to date in Infinite Campus. Most of the communication from the school will be sent using the email address we have on file. You can update this information by logging into your parent portal account. We are committed to providing all stakeholders with clear and transparent communication.
➢ Website – the school website is https://www.fultonschools.org/isonspringses. Please visit our site regularly for the most current information and resources.
➢ Principal’s Letter is direct communication from the principal sent via School Messenger. Please be sure we have your email on file so that you will receive these updates.
➢ Grade Level Weekly Emails are written by the classroom teachers and focus on upcoming dates and classroom curriculum and activities.
➢ Samples of Work are sent home to keep you updated on your child’s progress. All classroom teachers will send Thursday folders for graded work.
➢ Infinite Campus/Parent Portal is available for you to monitor your child’s grades. We encourage you to utilize this system to stay current with your child’s progress. Usernames and passwords are valid from year to year for continuously enrolled students. This information may be obtained from the school office at any time.
➢ Written Notes: Most communication can be handled through written notes. Please be sure to let your child know that he/she has a note for the teacher. All notes regarding transportation home must be approved by the office.
➢ Email: All teachers have county provided email addresses. Please note that teachers are not able to check email during instructional time. In most cases, you will receive a response within 24-48 hours.
➢ Phone Calls: Teachers are unavailable to take phone calls during instructional time. Please be aware that it may be late in the afternoon before your message is picked up and your call returned. In most cases, you will receive a response within 24-48 hours.
➢ Conferences: We encourage regular communication to discuss your child’s progress at school.
Conferences may be initiated by the parent, teacher, or administrator and held at a mutually agreeable time.
